Mahindra XUV300 boasts several segment first features including dual-zone automatic climate control and seven airbags

Mahindra & Mahindra announced the commencement of XUV300 pre-bookings at its dealerships across the country as well as official website on January 9. Customers will have to shell out an initial token of Rs. 20,000 and the XUV300 carries “Set The Roads On Fire” tag.

The XUV300 will be retailed in W4, W6 and W8 variants in addition to the optional W8 (O) top-of-the-line version with more technology and increased safety equipment. The compact SUV will more likely sit in the Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom) price bracket.

Competing against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport, the XUV300 is promising in several aspects. The first monocoque sub-four-metre SUV from Mahindra will boast best-in-class torque in its segment, as the 1.5-litre D15 four-cylinder diesel engine from Marazzo will produce 300 Nm.

The yet-to-be-confirmed 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor will develop class-leading 200 Nm and is expected to produce more than 110 PS. Constructed on the same X100 platform as the SsangYong Tivoli, the XUV300 will come equipped with first-in-class features to have the competitive advantage over rivals.

The new set of interior pictures reveals more details of the XUV300. It will have segment-first dual-zone automatic climate control system helping in two separate sections of the vehicle maintain different preferred temperatures as shown in the picture. The driver and front passenger can have hot or cold ambience based on their requirement.

Another class-first feature is the presence of seven airbags as showcased in the cutaway picture: front airbag, side airbag, curtain airbag and knee airbag. As standard, the XUV300 will offer LED tail lamps, four power windows, dual front airbags and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).

Other highlighting features include first-in-class disc brakes on all four wheels, Electronic Stability Control, Cruise Control, automatic projector headlamps and wipers, sunroof, auto dimming IRVM, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, LED DRLs, 17-inch alloy wheels, two-tone interior, etc.

 

Mahindra will initially sell the XUV300 with six-speed manual transmission and its launch has been scheduled for February 15. The XUV300 is shaping up to make a big impact in the tightly contested compact SUV segment.
