The previous generation Hyundai Verna was available with a 1.4-litre engine. But when the South Korean auto major introduced the fifth generation model it came only with a single petrol engine. Similarly, the automaker ditched the 1.4-litre diesel engine as well. Now, as the brand is reintroducing smaller 1.4-litre petrol motor to the sedan, we can assume, diesel variant too will receive the 1.4-litre engine in near future. However, Hyundai is yet to reveal any detail regarding that.

Presently, all Hyundai dealerships across the country have started receiving booking for the new petrol engine. Speaking about the 1.4-litre petrol engine, it comes available with a six-speed manual gearbox but possible top trims could get a six-speed automatic unit at a later stage.

Speaking about the performance figures of the 1.4-litre engine powered Hyundai Verna, it is able to churn out 100 PS of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 132 Nm of maximum torque at 4,000 rpm. The fuel economy of the new variant has been improved by 8 percent to an appreciable 19.1 kmpl. The other petrol engine in the lineup is a 1.6-litre mill that kicks out 121 bhp of peak power at 6,400 rpm and 151 Nm of peak torque at 4,850 rpm.

Current generation Hyundai Verna comes wearing a very stylish design compared to its predecessor. Not only the Fluidic design language, the upmarket features including some class-leading ones along with advanced safety measures also play crucial role behind the success of the car.

Despite tough competition from the rivals like Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City, new Hyundai Verna has been able to increase sales figure significantly. It also played key role in the recent success of the auto major. The automaker now hopes to see a sales boost for the car with new engine option.

Hyundai registered a record sales of 5,27,320 Units and cumulative sales of 6,78,221 Units in 2017. It introduced facelifts of Grand i10 and Xcent early in the year before the all-new Verna entered the scenes in August 2017. This year, Elite i20 will receive a facelift at the Auto Expo next month before the arrival of updated Creta in the second half of this year.
