New Hyundai Tucson Testing Commenced in India

Hyundai Tucson, which made its debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, and India debut at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2016 at New Delhi has been spotted testing in Chennai. The stylish and muscular car will be positioned between Santa Fe and Creta, and it will be locking horn against the likes of Honda CR-V and Skoda Yeti. Although Tucson played an innings in Indian pitch, but that would be better forgotten. This time the car is poised to create a strong ripple in Indian market.

The crossover from Hyundai’s stable takes the design cue from its big brother Santa Fe. Measured at 4475 mm of length, 1850 mm of width, 1645 mm of height and 2670 mm of wheelbase Tucson comes with a hexagonal front grille with three thick chrome slats, and sharp headlamp cluster at the front fascia. The front facade also gets LED daytime running lights, unusual but sharp fog lamps, air intake at lower bumper with honeycomb pattern grille, skid plate.

The side profile sports a muscular appearance with subtle yet profound character lines and the black cladding at the lower part. The rear gets a roof spoiler with high mounted stop lamps, a roof mounted shark fin antenna, Creta like headlamps. Tucson offers a massive boot space of 513 litres, which means space for luggage is no worry anymore.

Inside the cabin it gets a multifunction steering wheel, classy instrument cluster with dual round analog dials and a 4.2 inch TFT digital display, a stylish centre console with 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system. The dual tone dashboard, upmarket leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof makes the interior premium, which also gets features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, blind spot detection, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, parking assist.

Globally Tucson is offered in two different powertrains, but in India Hyundai might sell it with a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder CRDi engine paired with a six speed manual and an automatic transmission as well. This powertrain will pump out 182.5 bhp peak power and 402 Nm peak torque. Expect this car to come available in both FWD and AWD variants.
