Honda has introduced Amaze Ace Edition to celebrate the occasion of reaching one lakh unit sales in just 13 months
Honda Cars India has officially announced today that the second generation Amaze has achieved one lakh sales milestone in just 13 months since its market debut. The Japanese manufacturer was enduring tough times in the sub-four-metre sedan segment as the arrival of new rivals meant the Amaze was losing popularity.
However, Honda took on the challenge to introduce a brand new generation with completely overhauled exterior and interior along with an updated features list emphasising its premium nature. The second-gen Amaze made its public debut at the 2018 Auto Expo and it was well-received among show-goers and potential customers alike.
Honda introduced the latest Amaze in May 2018 and it built on the success of its predecessor by quickly jumping to the second position in the sales chart behind Maruti Suzuki Dzire. It crossed the elusive 10,000 mark as well monthly and in its opening months finished on the sales table with more than or close to 9,000 units quite often.
The new Amaze has been responsible for nearly half of the brand’s total volume in the last financial year while contributing to 52 per cent this FY and it has become the fastest model from HCIL to reach one lakh sales. Compared to the first-gen Amaze, the latest version registered 20 per cent higher sales growth and Honda claims it has lured in more than 25 per cent of first-time buyers in India.
As for the contribution, the Tier 1 cities led to 38 per cent of customers, Tier 2 at 32 per cent and Tier 3 at 30 per cent. It is worth noting that more than one-fifth of the customers have opted to buy the CVT automatic variants. Overall, the Amaze has garnered 3.5 lakh customers across the nation since its market entry in April 2013 and it comes with class-leading 3 years/ unlimited km warranty.
To celebrate the occasion, Honda has launched a new special edition Amaze known as the ‘Ace Edition’. It is available based on the high-spec VX grade in both petrol and diesel engines. The Honda Amaze Ace Edition is the sportier take on the regular sedan and is offered in three colour choices namely Radiant Red, Lunar Silver and White Orchid Pearl.
It is priced at Rs. 7.89 lakh for the petrol MT, Rs. 8.72 lakh for the petrol CVT, Rs. 8.99 lakh for the diesel MT and Rs. 9.72 lakh for the diesel CVT (all prices, ex-showroom pan India). With no mechanical changes, the Ace Edition can be differentiated from the standard Amaze using new black alloy wheels, bold black boot spoiler, front room lamp, Ace Edition emblem, black door visor and door edge garnish and Ace Edition branding embossed in seat covers.
