Volkswagen officially announced a recall for new generation Polo, Seat Ibiza and Arona to fix the faulty rear seatbelt lock. The issue is a rare one and it can happen only at a particular situation. When the rear seat and rear seat belt is occupied at the same time, the left seat belt lock could be unintentionally released during sudden lane changes and high speed cornering. Even though it is not a safety issue, but the manufacturer is committed to provide maximum safety for its customers.
Volkswagen is waiting for final verification from the authorities as they completely redesigned the rear seat lock and it will be fitted to current cars along with new models which will be manufactured in future. The company has advised that it is better not to use the middle seat lock until the problem is rectified.
