New-Gen Renault Captur Leaked Online, Design Inspired From Clio

New-Gen Renault Captur Leaked

The new Second Generation Renault Captur has been leaked online sporting a design familiar to the Clio hatchback

The premium 5-seater SUV is on a boom lately and every manufacturer wants to taste a piece of pie by introducing their own product in this segment. Renault introduced the Captur both globally and in India slotting above the popular Duster compact SUV. Now the second generation Renault Captur has been leaked online in a single image, ahead of its anticipated launch later this year.

A Twitter user named Julien Jodry has posted an image of the new Captur revealing the front three-quarter of the SUV. Since this is the only image available online and it’s also the first image of the new Captur, there’s very little information available on the new car, and that too based on this front 3/4th profile.

Based on the image, it can be seen that the new Captur is inspired from the new-generation Clio hatchback, but with a more beefy look, predominately from the front. And it’s understandable as the Captur competes under the SUV space, while Clio is a hatch.

The new Captur gets a chunkier bumper, skid plate and raised ground clearance apart from a contrasting black plastic cladding for the bumper extensions and wheel arches, new fog-light design, a contrasting black roof and mirror caps. There’s a C-shaped LED daytime running lights that extend from the headlight cluster into the front bumper.

As the side is a chrome strip underlining the side windows, extending all the way up to the tailgate that adds a floating roof effect to the Captur. Since there’s no image of the back, it’s hard to talk on the design, apart from drawing similarities between the Captur and Clio.

The same can be said about the cabin layout, albeit with more space as compared to the Clio. The new Captur will be based on Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-B platform, currently underpinning the Clio. The new Renault Captur is expected to be launched in India by mid next year, with a possible reveal at the 2020 Auto Expo.
