At the Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa, Mahindra has launched the new generation line of Oja tractors. The Indian Independence Day marks the arrival of the all-new tractor range as Mahindra reveals its ambitious plans for the future pertaining to the farm sector and the passenger vehicle space but first, let us have a look at the new-gen Oja series.
The prices of the lightweight Oja 2127 and Oja 3140 have been announced as the former costs Rs. 5.64 lakh and the latter is priced at Rs. 7.35 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom Pune). In comparison with their competitors, they come with significant improvements and features and are more affordable as well. The Oja name is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Ojas’.

It was co-developed by Mahindra Research Valley in India, and the R&D centre for Mahindra AFS and Mitsubishi Mahindra Agriculture Machinery in Japan.
An investment of Rs. 1,200 crore has been made to bring up this project. As many as seven tractors from the Oja portfolio debuted across different segments such as sub-compact, compact and small utility. All the models are equipped with a four-wheel-drive system as standard and the power output ranges between 20 hp and 40 hp.
They are designed and developed to tackle different agricultural activities across varying surface conditions and terrains. The seven Oja tractors are based on three technology packs namely MYOJA, PROJA and ROBOJA. The first one is an intelligence pack, the second is a productivity pack and the ROBOJA is an automation pack.
Both Oja 2127 and Oja 3140 feature projector headlamps and each pack enables different technologies. For instance, the PROJA enables 12 forward plus 12 rear gears, front and rear shuttle, 0.3 kmph creeper speed, and is PTO button operated. The ROBOJA gets automatic one-side braking, auto implement lift and auto PTO on/off. The MYOJA pack offers service alerts and telematics.
The Oja range of tractors will empower Mahindra to address 25 per cent of the global tractor industry while addressing new markets in Europe and Southeast Asia. Mahindra has also announced a wide network of over 1,100 channel partners. The Oja models will be launched in North America, Brazil, Australia, South Africa and South Asia as well.
