2023 Toyota Vellfire comes with a host of revisions inside and out and is more feature-packed than the outgoing model
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has today announced the launch of the new generation Vellfire in the domestic market following its global debut a few weeks ago. With a starting price of Rs. 1.20 crore (ex-showroom, pan India) – around Rs. 24 lakh more than the old model – the 2023 Toyota Vellfire comes with a host of revisions inside and out and is more feature-packed.
Available in a total of Hi and VIP variants, it has a lot in common with the Lexus LM sold in the international markets. The top-spec VIP variant with Executive Lounge pack costs Rs. 1.30 crore (ex-showroom, pan India). Underpinned by the TNGA-K platform, the new-gen Toyota Vellfire has larger proportions and lower kerb weight compared to the previous model.
It measures a length of 4,995 mm, a width of 1,850 mm and a height of 1,950 mm with a wheelbase length of 3,000 mm. It is longer by 60 mm and taller by 50 mm while retaining the same width and wheelbase. As for the performance, the 2.5L four-cylinder petrol engine works in tandem with an electric motor to form a hybrid system.

It produces a combined power output of 193 hp and 240 Nm of peak torque and is paired exclusively to an e-CVT transmission. The new generation Toyota Vellfire is claimed capable of returning a fuel economy of 19.28 kmpl and is brought into the country via the CBU route. The nameplate is already popular in India judging by the good sales numbers.

The exterior comprises a more prominent grille section with horizontal slats and the Toyota badge sits in the middle, split LED headlamp cluster with new LED DRLs, a thick chrome trim covering the width, newly designed alloy wheels, LED tail lamps in a more expressive manner with new graphics, updated rear bumper and tailgate, blackened pillars, an updated side profile, etc.
The interior features less use of physical buttons as a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage. Some of the highlights are new seats, ADAS tech, an overhead console for occupants, captain chairs with retractable tables in the Executive Lounge pack, a wireless smartphone charger, a HUD, an eight-way power-adjusted driver seat and so on.
