New BMW X3 Petrol and BMW X5 Petrol Variants Launched in India

New BMW X3 Petrol and BMW X5 Petrol are powered by 2.0L and 3.0L TwinPower Turbo engines making 245 hp and 306 hp respectively

The latest generation BMW TwinPower turbo four and six cylinder petrol engines are launched in the domestic market as the new X3 xDrive28i and X5 xDrive35i are claimed by the German manufacturer to offer dynamic ability, unbeatable efficiency and exquisite comfort both on and off road.

Both models will be locally produced at the Chennai facility. With the introduction of petrol engines, the BMW X3 and X5 range have been expanded. The new xDrive28i is exclusive available in ‘xLine’ design scheme that embodies practicality and modern design. On the other hand, the new BMW X5 xDrive35i comes in ‘Design Pure Experience’ package. The BMW X3 xDrive28i xLine is priced at Rs. 54,90,000 while the X5 xDrive35i Design Pure Experience five-seater comes with a price tag of Rs. 73,50,000 (both ex-showroom prices, New Delhi).

BMW X5 xDrive35i India

The X3 petrol is available in several paint schemes like Alpine White (non-metallic) along with metallic Black Sapphire, Deep Blue and Melbourne Red while the X5 petrol will have Alpine White (non-metallic) and metallic paintworks like Black Sapphire, Imperial Blue and Sparkling Brown. Different upholstery combinations customers can choose from are Leather Nevada Beige and Beige, Nevada Saddle Brown and Black and Leather ‘Dakota’ Canberra Beige among others.

Courtesy of the BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology, the petrol engines from the EfficientDynamics family are said to offer spirited power delivery and spontaneous responsiveness even at lower speeds. The two-litre four-cylinder petrol engine of the new BMW X3 xDrive28i produces a maximum power output of 245 hp and 350 Nm at 1,250 – 4,800 rpm. It can accelerate from 0 -100 kmph in just 6.5 seconds.

BMW X3 India

The three-litre inline six-cylinder petrol motor of the new BMW X5 xDrive35i develops an output of 306 hp and maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1,200 – 5,000 rpm. It can do 0 -100 kmph in the same time as the smaller X3 petrol. Transmission duties are performed by an eight-speed Steptronic transmission with Automatic Hold Function in X3 and a new eight-speed Sport Steptronic automatic transmission in the X5.

Both models feature xDrive all-wheel-drive system, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode, Brake-Energy Regeneration, Intelligent Lightweight Construction, Electronic Power Steering, 50:50 Weight Distribution and other innovative technologies. The Driving Experience Control switch helps the driver to choose between different driving modes as well.

BMW ConnectedDrive system offers BMW Navigation system Professional with 3D maps (integrated Global Positioning System-GPS), BMW apps, iDrive Touch with handwriting recognition including a 26 cm high-definition colour display, high-end Surround Sound system from Harman Kardon, rear-view camera and touch screen are available in BMW X5 petrol. Whereas, the new BMW X3 xDrive28i xLine comes with iDrive Touch controller with 22.3 cm high-definition colour display, hi-fi loudspeaker system and Rear View camera.
