BMW India has expanded the 5-Series range by introducing a petrol version for the domestic luxury market. At the end of January, the German manufacturer launched the diesel 3-Series variant ahead of the 13th Indian Auto Expo with an uprated 2.0-litre engine.

Following it up, the new BMW 520i will be sold for an ex-showroom Delhi price tag of Rs. 54 lakh and can be bought instantly. Unlike its main rival Mercedes-Benz, BMW will be bringing the diesel version of the 5-series through CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. Completing the range, the 5-Series will be made available in the Luxury Line trim only.

Power source for the BMW 520i is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged petrol engine that can also be found in the entry-level 320i. The diesel petrol motor can produce a maximum power output 184 bhp and peak torque of 270 Nm delivered between 1,250 and 4,500 rpm.

It is mated with an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with cruise control ensuring smoother gear changes.
