The Austrian manufacturer is working on next generation Duke 200 and it is bound to get major updates with similar design as Duke 250 and 390
KTM revealed the second generation Duke 390 and new Duke 250 last year at EICMA. But the company didn’t update the Duke 200 to be inline with rest of the products. Recently KTM introduced side mounted exhaust for the Duke 200 replacing the underbelly exhaust just like its siblings which also got this update sometime back.
TMCBlog reports that the Austrian manufacturer is working on next generation Duke 200 and it is bound to get major updates. The reports point out that the design of new Duke 200 will be similar like its elder siblings Duke 250 and 390. But we are not expecting the fancy LED lights to be available with Duke 200 as it will increase costs.

The Duke 250 also didn’t get the advanced metre console from 390 so it won’t be available in Duke 250 also. But the design changes will certainly turn heard for sure. Along with design, we can also expect mechanical parts to get updates which will be shared from Duke 390 as it won’t increase cost much.
We are sure that the new generation Duke 200 will get ABS in India as all new bikes above 125 cc must comes with ABS which is a mandatory here, so KTM will give the same Bosch system used in Duke 390 for the entry level model also. The trellis frame will get some updates to make the handling even more sharper.

The current model is powered by 199.5 cc single cylinder engine producing 24.6 bhp of power at 10,000 rpm and 19.2 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 6 speed gearbox. Like new 390, we can expect the engine to be tuned for all riding conditions rather than outright acceleration which is a trade mark of current engine.
We can expect the performance numbers to be similar like the current model and weight is expected to go up slightly for better stability during triple digit speed. KTM is expected to reveal new generation Duke 200 at EICMA later this year and the India launch will take place by the middle of 2019.
