Porsche’s all-new Cayenne Turbo has been priced at Rs. 1.92 crore (ex-showroom, pan India) and its bookings have now commenced before reaching dealerships next month. We have been reporting of the new Cayenne’s entry for several months since it made global premiere at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

With the Cayenne and Cayenne E-Hybrid confirmed to arrive at showrooms later this year, the Cayenne Turbo is the first addition to the updated range and it features a more powerful engine compared to the outgoing model. The new Cayenne Turbo uses the brand’s 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine producing 550 horsepower and 770 Nm of peak torque sent to all four wheels through a new eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission.

India-Bound 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo 1It develops 30 hp an 20 Nm more than its predecessor. They aid the sporty luxury SUV to achieve zero to 100 kmph in just 4.1 seconds (four tenths quicker than outgoing model) or just 3.9 seconds when fitted with optional Sport Chrono pack in international markets. It has a top speed rated at 286 kmph.

The equipment list comprises of LED headlamps with matrix beam Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), 1,455 W Burmester 3D surround sound system with 21 speakers, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC),12-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) touchscreen infotainment system, electric rear axle steering and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).

India-Bound 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo 2The third generation Porsche Cayenne Turbo measures 4,918 mm long, 1,983 mm wide and stands 1,696 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,895 mm and 770 litres of bootspace that can be expanded by up to 1,710 litres. It is also 65 kilograms lighter than the outgoing range-topping model.

The evolutionary design language gains new LED headlamps and bigger air intakes. Porsche says it has lowered roofline for better athletic stance and it is accompanied by a set of new alloy wheels and revised tail lamps.

The interior has seen many changes including three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, an updated 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with internet connectivity, new centre console with analogue and digital controls, new instrument cluster with analogue tachometer and two seven-inch displays among others.
