In this comparison post, we compare the dimensions of the new Hyundai Santro 2018 with its main rivals, viz Maruti Wagon R, Renault Kwid, Maruti Celerio and Datsun redi-Go
The new Hyundai Santro 2018 is only a few days away from its launch. With a starting price of Rs 4 lakh, it will end up rivaling a range of products including the Maruti Wagon R, Renault Kwid, Maruti Celerio, and the Datsun redi-GO.
One of the highlights of the new Santro will be its spacious cabin. But how does it in front of the competition? Here is our comparison of the New Hyundai Santro with its main rivals in terms of dimensions
New 2018 Hyundai Santro vs Maruti Wagon R
2018 Hyundai Santro | Maruti Wagon R
Length | 3,610 mm | 3,599 mm |
Width | 1,645 mm | 1,495 mm |
Height | 1,560 mm | 1,700 mm |
Wheelbase | 2,400 mm | 2,400 mm |
Ground Clearance | 160 mm | 165 mm |
Boot Space | 235-litres | 180-litres |
In terms of length, the 2018 Hyundai Santro has a clear advantage over the Wagon R. It’s even wider. However, the Maruti Wagon R has an advantage in terms of height and ground clearance. In terms of wheelbase, both the models are equally matched. Still, due to larger length and wheelbase, and of course, a much larger boot, the new Hyundai Santro emerges as the clear winner of this comparison.
New 2018 Hyundai Santro vs Renault Kwid
2018 Hyundai Santro | Renault Kwid
Length | 3,610 mm | 3,679 mm |
Width | 1,645 mm | 1,579 mm |
Height | 1,560 mm | 1,478 mm |
Wheelbase | 2,400 mm | 2,422 mm |
Ground Clearance | 160 mm | 180 mm |
Boot Space | 235-litres | 300-litres |
The 2018 Hyundai Santro has a clear advantage in terms of width and height. However, the Renault Kwid is not only longer but also has a slightly higher wheelbase. What’s more, it has the highest boot space in the segment, which gives it a clear advantage.
All this means that while the Santro will easily accommodate three occupants in the rear seat, the Kwid will offer a higher legroom and a much bigger boot space. In this part of the comparison, we feel that both the models are equally matched owing to each of them holding a significant advantage over the other.
New 2018 Hyundai Santro vs Maruti Celerio
2018 Hyundai Santro | Maruti Celerio
Length | 3,610 mm | 3,695 mm |
Width | 1,645 mm | 1,600 mm |
Height | 1,560 mm | 1,560 mm |
Wheelbase | 2,400 mm | 2,400 mm |
Ground Clearance | 160 mm | 170 mm |
Boot Space | 235-litres | 235-litres |
Another model that will rival the new Hyundai Santro will be the Maruti Celerio. The latter will have a clear advantage in terms of overall length, while the new Santro remains unbeatable in terms of width. Both stand equal in aspects of height and boot space but the Celerio has an advantage in terms of ground clearance. We feel that the 2018 Santro and the Celerio stand equally matched in this part of the comparison.
New 2018 Hyundai Santro vs Datsun redi-GO
2018 Hyundai Santro | Datsun redi-GO
Length | 3,610 mm | 3,429 mm |
Width | 1,645 mm | 1,560 mm |
Height | 1,560 mm | 1,541 mm |
Wheelbase | 2,400 mm | 2,430 mm |
Ground Clearance | 160 mm | 185 mm |
Boot Space | 235-litres | 222-litres |
As is clearly evident, the Datsun redi-GO is a smaller car than the new Hyundai Santro. The latter has clear advantage in terms of overall length, width, and even height. Thanks to the short overhangs of the redi-GO the entry-level Datsun has a higher wheelbase. It also offers more ground clearance, which is a boon for the rough conditions our roads are known to offer. However, in spite of sharing the platform with the Renault Kwid, it has a low bootspace of 222-litres.
