It has been a few years since the diesel engine powered City graced the Indian scenes and it took over the segment by storm. After dominating the midsize segment for a long time, the arrival of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz did come as a hammer-blow as the two potent products battled for honours.
In order to regain the leading position in the segment, a facelift for the City is all the more necessary and the 2017 City facelift debuted today in India to give a fierce competition to Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and the likes.
The India-spec 2017 Honda City Facelift received subtle cosmetic upgrades with minor reshuffling in features and largely resemble the model launched in Thailand last year. Its arrival into the Indian market marked the revival of ‘City ZX‘ moniker as a new top of the line variant.
The new City ZX gets the front and rear changes inspired by the new Honda Civic with revised bumpers and fog lamp housing, larger air dams, thick chrome band running into the headlight cluster integrated with LED lamps, LED inserts on tail lamps, 10 mm raised suspension, 16-inch alloys instead of 15-inchers, boot spoiler with middle LED stop light, etc.
The Facelift of the mid-size sedan is priced not so different from the current model at around Rs.8.5 Lakh to 13.5 Lakh however it gets a minor increase of 20K-25K from existing variants.

The frugal diesel engine is claimed to deliver 25.6 kmpl and the petrol engine in the region of 17.4 kmpl -18 kmpl.
The China-spec City was dimensional larger as preferred by that particular market’s buyers. However, the proportions of the Indian remains the same. It measures about 4,440 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, 1,495 mm in height, 2,600 mm in wheelbase and has 165 mm ground clearance.
Interiors will have an all-new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and a mobile mirroring app co-developed with Blaupunkt, six airbags in higher-end model, leather seat upholstery and so on.
