According to MV Agusta, due to a production error there may be excessive play in axial clamping screws on the forks and this may lead to potential crash

MV Agusta has officially announced a major recall for nine models and the company has advised owners not to ride the bike in global markets. According to the company, due to a production error there may be excessive play in axial clamping screws on the forks and this may lead to a potential crash. The affected bikes are manufactured between 12th March and 30th April, 2018.

The nine models are Brutale 800 RR, Brutale 800, Brutale 800 RC, Brutale 800 Dragster RC, Brutale 800 Dragster RR, F3 800 RC, F3 800, F3 675 and RVS 1. The company will contact affected customers via mail as they need to take the bike to dealerships and they will check the threaded holes in the axle carriers with a special tool and if the nonconformity is present the fork leg with a defective axle will be replaced.

According to filing documents with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the company discovered excessive play of axle carrier wheel clamping screws on May 2, 2018. Then the company worked with suppliers and upper management to find a solution for the issue and the Italian manufacturer made the decision to recall by the end of June.

The total number of units affected around the world will be very low as these bikes are very rare and in US, there are only 22 units, which are affected with this issue. Earlier this year, the company announced a recall for F4 superbikes as it comes with faulty brake master cylinder.

The recall affected only 27 units and the issue is that Brembo master cylinders with 15 mm and 16 mm piston made of Polyphenylene Sulphise (PPS) master cylinder can crack with regular ABS usage or when used excessively on track. This problem has affected so many other manufacturers also.

MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR is powered by 798 cc, three cylinder, 4 stroke, 12 valve engine producing 140 hp of power at 12,300 rpm and 87 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 6 speed gearbox and top speed is 244 kph. The braking power comes from doubled floating 320 mm disc and 220 mm single steel disc.
