The global spec Mitsubishi Lancer facelift is expected to launch later this year
The Mitsubishi Lancer gets an all new face in China. The Japanese automaker itself didn’t facelifted the vehicle though. What we have learnt, Mitsubishi’s Chinese partners have done it for the Chinese domestic market only. Therefore the facelifted model spotted is unlikely to reach other markets.
Mitsubishi lancer has been one sporty looking compact sedan with the present generation model based on the GS platform. The car has been very popular across the world since it was launched first in 1973. The China spec facelifted sedan gets a new fascia, which is available in several other present generation models like the Outlander. The new fascia gets a large radiator grille, with sleek chrome bars decorating the fascia.
The front grille also gets sleek chrome slats running horizontally. The headlamp clusters with projector units, look sharper with the LED daytime running lights integrated to them. Despite these little changes the rest of the exterior remains identical though. The interior of the Chinese spec facelifted Mitsubishi Lancer has been revamped a bit as well. But the sporty looking interior largely retains the outgoing model’s interior design language.
The Mitsubishi Lancer is expected to get a facelift in the global market. The global facelifted model will be based on the Lancer showcased in October last year in US. The car debuted in Australia in last December as well. Expect the upcoming facelifted Mitsubishi Lancer to come based on the Nissan C segment cars.
The new facelifted global market spec Mitsubishi Lancer comes sharper and more stylish compare to the outgoing model. The front profile of the facelifted model has been updated subtly. The front grille gets a Ralliart design, which we have already seen in the MY15 version of the model.
The front bumper also looks cleaner and muscular with loads of chrome embellishment, new fog lamps. The headlamps get new LED daytime running lights. The side profile receives side skirts, which enhance the sporty appeal of the car.
The interior of the upcoming global spec facelifted model gets some interior update as well. The instrument cluster, centre console has been updated with new design and sport silver and black accents. The center console also sports an all new multicolour touchscreen infotainment system.
