Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Scores 5-Star Safety Rating In ASEAN NCAP

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is based on the XR-PHEV II concept; scored 35.14 out of 36 points for adult safety

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has scored impressive 5-star safety rating in ASEAN NCAP crash test. The compact SUV has scored 35.14 points out of total 36 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), while on Child Occupant Protection (COP) ground it scored 43.34 points out of 49 points. On the Safety Assist Technologies (SAT) ground, the car received 14.50 points out of 18.

The particular Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross tested by ASEAN NCAP was equipped with seven airbags, Active Stability Control, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), around view monitor, Hill Start Assist (HSA) and forward collision mitigation system. Apart from that, it also had front and rear parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto brake hold and automatic high beam function as well.

So far, the compact SUV comes loaded with wide range of advanced safety features ensuring high level of protection for the occupants. The Japanese auto manufacturer rolled out this SUV in the Singaporean market recently. It is based on the XR-PHEV II concept that was revealed back in 2015. It also takes design clues from the 2013 XR-PHEV concept. The production model of the car was showcased at 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross carries design elements visible in several other modern cars from the brand. It gets a large front grille with X shape that sports plenty of chrome garnishing. The radiator grille is flanked by sharp headlamps with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. A muscular front bumper with a skid plate adds more appeal to the SUV.

Moving to side profile, it boasts sporty alloy wheels, thick black cladding, scuff plate, blackened glass area, turn indicator integrated ORVMs. Also, there are sloping glossy black roof. Moving to the back, it gets a very sporty look with an integrated roof spoiler, shark fin antenna on top, vertically positioned taillight. There is a horizontal light at the bottom of rear windscreen connecting the vertical taillights.

The tailgate appears with a sculpted look and there is a chrome finished door handlebar. Also, a chunky black bumper is there with skid plate. Not only exterior, inside the cabin it gets a premium feel thanks to the dashtop touchscreen infotainment system, black paint scheme, analog-digital display consisting instrument cluster. The car gets power from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel motor. For transmission duty, it relies on a CVT and there is an 8-speed automatic gearbox as well.
