A Jeep Compass customer from Kerala took to Facebook to express his dissatisfaction for the repair cost of the SUV, which involved in an accident with Alto

A disgruntled Jeep Compass took to social media to express his lacklustre experience with the premium SUV. Krishnaprasad Gopinath listed himself as an “unfortunate Jeep Compass owner” before explaining what he had been through with the Jeep Compass (American SUV) made at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra. He has used the Compass for a period of just ten months and covered 10,000 km on “good quality city roads”.

He lamented that his Jeep Compass suffered leak in the diesel pump. Despite getting replaced by Pinnacle Jeep Kochi under warranty, he was given no explanation on why the mishap occurred. A month later, his Compass was involved in an accident with a Maruti Suzuki Alto.

While the budget small hatchback had his tail lamps broken, the Jeep Compass was the bigger casualty as headlamp, grille, bumper and fender were damaged besides the dented bonnet. The overall cost for mending the exterior was Rs. 2.76 lakh and the owner is said to be quarrelling at the Kochi dealership and his insurance agency over how the claim process was handled and how the fixing cost arrived.

Frustrated on receiving no response from the “supremely customer focussed” Jeep team, as mockingly referred, Krishnaprasad seeks answers to both the incidents amidst making countless calls and sending e-mails to the relevant authorities. He wrote on Facebook that he was fooled by the advertisements and the accident did not live up to the strong build quality vowed by the American brand.

The images attached here explains the cost details as for the headlamp he paid nearly Rs. 40,000, just over Rs. 28,000 surprisingly for “basic paint preparation”, nearly Rs. 35,000 for the new bonnet, Rs. 16,644 for metal covering radiator closure, nearly Rs. 7,000 for the radiator, upper radiator protection for nearly Rs. 10,000, nearly Rs. 15,000 for the radiator grille, Rs. 11.414 for cross rail front bumper, etc.

The Compass has been facing regular sales setbacks in recent times due to the declining popularity. Despite the attempts to revive sales with the introduction of new variants and special editions, Jeep could not achieve its previous monthly average of around 2,000 units. The range-topping Trailhawk variant focussing on off-roading with nine-speed diesel AT will be launching soon in India.
