Several new car brands are gearing up to enter into the domestic market and one of them is the British marquee MG Motors that is owned by Chinese automobile group SAIC. With the MG Motors, SAIC is going to be the first Chinese company to enter India. To grab attention of the local buyers, MG Motors is focusing on the segments that contribute major number of sales.

The first product from MG Motors in India could be the ZS compact SUV. This SUV is expected to launch here in 2019 and upon arrival, it will lock horns with tough rival like Hyundai Creta that has seen immense popularity here within short span of time. Before introducing this car to the domestic market, the automaker has already teased the ZS and GS in a view on the official social media page of MG Motor India.

MG ZS is already available in UK market with two different engine options that include a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit and a 1.5-litre motor. Expect both these engines to be available with the car in Indian market. The 1.0-litre turbocharged engine is coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission and the 1.5-litre motor is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

In terms of performance, the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine is capable of kicking out 111 PS of peak power at 5,200 rpm and 160 Nm of peak torque between 1,800 rpm – 4,700 rpm. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine is capable of churning out 106 PS of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. Expect both the engines to deliver impressive fuel efficiency. In UK market, the 1.5-litre engine equipped model delivers 21 kmpl of mileage, while the 1.0-litre motor powered model returns 19 kmpl.

Speaking about the design of MG ZS compact SUV, it comes with a bold appearance. The SUV sports a large front grille with black mesh and chrome detailing around it. The radiator grille is flanked by sharp headlamps sporting projector lamps and integrated LED daytime running lights. There is a muscular front bumper with large central air intake and neatly positioned rectangular fog lamps with black cladding highlighting them.

The front skid plate enhances its toughness. Moving to side profile, MG ZS compact SUV boasts sharp character lines, large and bold looking 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels along with thick black cladding as well. Apart from that, there are turn indicator integrated ORVMs, black glass area with chrome trim. Sporty roof rails will be there.

At the back, this compact SUV features integrated roof spoiler, wraparound LED taillights and a chunky bumper with black cladding. Like front profile, rear fascia too gets a skid plate. Overall, the compact SUV comes with a sporty and stylish appearance that is visible from every angle.

Not only exterior, inside the cabin too MG ZS has been designed to impress the occupants with its design and features. There is a minimalist approach in terms of interior styling of the car. The MG ZS gets a sporty flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, an instrument cluster with analog and digital display and silver accents highlighting the entire panel.

Centre console gets a large touchscreen infotainment system with various connectivity options like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Above the touchscreen infotainment system, there are horizontally slated AC vents. A layered looking dashboard with circular AC vents at both end are there. Seat and upholstery materials come wrapped with impressive quality materials. This five seater compact SUV gets front seat armrest, ample space and comfort on offer for the occupants.

MG Motors offer the ZS compact SUV in UK market in three different trims that are – Explore, Excite and Exclusive. All these trims come equipped with several safety features that include dual front airbags, side curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, Hill Launch Assist, EBA, TPMS, rear parking assist etc. Also there are three point seatbelts with pretensioner and load limiter along with seatbelt reminder.
