MG RX5 SUV’s camouflaged test mule spotted in India was left hand drive which suggested that the unit was International spec
MG Motors is finally coming to India next year and the first model from the company is a SUV. The British manufacturer commenced testing of Baojun 530 SUV recently in India. Team-BHP spotted RX5 SUV testing in India and the test mule is left hand drive model which suggest that the unit is International spec model which has been imported for testing in Indian conditions.
The RX5 is already available in International markets like Middle East and in China under Roewe brand. The test mule is heavily camouflaged but we can still make out the design theme as it is similar to global version. The front get big grille which extend towards headlamp and the DRLs are also placed inside headlamp cluster.

The lower part of bumper is finished in black colour and the company has given big fog lamps. The side design is similar like other compact SUVs as RX5 get big alloy wheels and roof rail. The rear of RX5 looks similar to BMW X5 with split LED tail lamps and raked rear glass along with integrated spoiler gives a sporty theme for the SUV.
The interior of RX5 gets futuristic design theme as the company has given three spoke steering wheel with controls for infotainment and other functions. The instrument cluster is fully digital and the company has given 8 inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Like Volvo, all the functions are controlled via this touch screen like climate control.

MG has given lots of features for RX5 like push button start, keyless entry, electric adjust for driver seat, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, tyres pressure monitoring system, hill decent control and more. Globally, RX5 is offering with two petrol engines as the entry level model gets 1.5 L engine producing 166 hp of power and 250 Nm of torque.
The 2.0 L engine produces 217 hp of power at 5,300 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 2,500 – 4,000 rpm. These engines are mated to 7 speed automatic and 6 speed automatic. The 2.0 L engine model can do 0-100 kph in 8 sec and MG is offering four wheel drive system also. We can expect MG to source a diesel engine for RX5 and it could be launched next year in India.
