MG showcased RX5 in India as part of the brand promotion along with other models, the first product will be launched in 2019
MG Motor is officially going to enter the Indian market next year with an all-new SUV and it is going to be positioned against Honda CR-V. The British manufacturer has begun promotional activities as they want to make people aware of the brand as establishing a new company in India is very difficult.
The company is going to showcase some of the models of MG Motor in selected cities across the country just to give an experience of the brand and these are left-hand drive models. MG Motor is conducting its first brand promotion event at the Ambience Mall in Gurugram from 14-16 December and the RX5 is one of the models showcased in it.
MG RX5 has been already spotted testing in India and it is a competitor for Hyundai Creta. The compact SUV comes with chrome finished front grille along with the MG logo in the middle and full LED headlamps with integrated DRLs extend towards the grille. The front bumper gets a new design theme and a silver finished scuff plates at the front and rear also.
The compact SUV comes with black plastic cladding running across the body and new LED tail lamps at the rear. Overall, exterior design is appealing. The RX5 measures 4545 mm length, 1855 width, 1719 mm height and wheelbase of 2700 mm. The boot space of RX5 is 595 litres, which can be extended to 1639 litres by folding down seats.
The interior of RX5 continues the premium design with dual tone colour options like black and beige. The company has given three-spoke steering wheel and a new instrument cluster along with lots of features like touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, 6-way adjustable driver seat, cruise control and more.
MG has given lots of safety features like four airbags, ABS, EBD, anti-rolling program, hill descent control and more. The RX5 showcased in India is powered by 2.0 L engine producing 217 bhp at 5,300 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 2,500 – 4,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 6-speed automatic gearbox and top speed is 208 kph.
