MG eZS electric SUV has been spotted in India for the first time. The British manufacturer announced earlier this year that the company is planning to launch the eZS SUV in December 2019. The test mule spotted is heavily camouflaged but the model is already on sale in the Chinese market.

The electric version carries forward the same design theme as regular ZS but the company has made some changes like closed front grille to improve aerodynamic efficiency and the alloy wheels design is also new. The charging port on the SUV is placed behind the grille, which is very convenient.

The eZS is powered by 44.5 kWh battery pack and it produces 150 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. This powertrain is mated to an automatic gearbox. According to MG, the eZS comes with 350 km range and the SUV takes just 6 hours to charge the battery full from a normal AC charger. But the charging time drops to just 30 minutes (up to 80 per cent) using a DC fast charger.

The performance of eZS is excellent as the SUV takes just 3.1 sec to hit 50 kph from a standstill. The company has made some changes for the interior as the interior cluster has new graphics and it displays battery information. Instead of regular gear knob, MG has given a rotary knob to select various driving modes.

The SUV is loaded with lots of features like a panoramic sunroof, 8-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, reverse camera with parking sensors, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, keyless entry, push-button start, 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP and more.

Some reports have indicated that MG is planning to import around 250 units of eZS in the initial phase and depending on market response the company will import more unit or locally assemble the model in India. The eZS is likely to be priced at Rs. 25 lakh and it is going to compete against the Hyundai Kona EV.
