2016 Delhi Auto Expo: Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabrio unveiled, market launch later in 2016
The Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet has made its Indian premiere at the Auto Expo 2016. It has been another crowd-gatherer at the motoring show with its elegant soft-top appeal and a striking exterior. It marked the comeback of the convertible four-seater luxury sport model since 1971 and its electrically foldable three-layer, tensioning-arm acoustic roof-top can be opened or closed in just 20 seconds whilst travelling at speeds of up to 60 kmph.
Mercedes S Class Cabriolet comes packed with features such as Airmatic air suspension, Air Balance Package, automatic emergency braking, a touchpad infotainment system, Nappa leather and a Burmester sound system as standard equipment. Optionally offered are Intelligent Drive systems such as DISTRONIC PLUS, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, 3D sound system, seat massage with 6 different programs and optional hot-stone massage function, semi-autonomous driving features and a HUD (Head-Up Display) among several others.
THERMOTRONIC intelligent climate control technology works with twelve sensors and eighteen actuators for automatically ensuring a comfortable and warmth cabin. AIRSCARF neck heating helps in extending the durability of roof-down commuting and AIRCAP technology reduces air turbulence whilst putting the foot-down and going faster.
The Mercedes S550 derives power from a 4.7-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine churning out 449 hp and 516 pound-feet of peak torque whilst the range-topping AMG tuned S63 4MATIC Cabriolet model gets a more powerful 5.5-litre unit dishing out 577 hp of maximum power and 664 lb-ft of peak torque. The AMG model can do 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just 3.9 seconds.
