Mercedes Benz India racks up highest ever sales; 13,558 cars were sold in FY 2015-2016

German luxury automaker Mercedes Benz has sold a total of 13558 cars in India in the fiscal year 2015 – 2016, which is the best sales record for the company in the country till date. In the fiscal year 2014 – 2015 they sold a total of 11213 units, which means in last fiscal they have sold 2345 units more than the last fiscal marking a 21 per cent growth.

The German automaker also recorded best first quarter sale with 3622 units of vehicles sold in between January and March of this year. In the single month record March 2016 has been the best time for the company as they sold highest number of cars in the month. Mercedes Benz has also recorded highest calendar year sales in 2015 with a total number of 13502 cars sold in last year.

In that case they have beaten the other German luxury automaker Audi, as in Indian market the four ringed automaker was the leading brand. Mercedes Benz launched a total of 15 cars in 2015, and they are expected to continue the momentum this year also. Mercedes Benz has taken quite an aggressive strategy in India, as the demand for the luxury cars have been rising in recent times in the country.

The Mercedes Benz E Class is one of the most favourite cars from the brand in India, and it is celebrating 20 years in the country. In the first quarter of 2016 it was the highest sold car from the brand. The luxury sedan was followed by C Class, GLA, GLE and the GL alongside the AMG line up as well. Despite facing the ban on diesel cars over 2000 cc engines in Delhi and NCR the German brand has seen steep growth in their sales.

Speaking about the achievement Roland Folger, the Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes Benz India describe this achievement as a significant one for them. He also talked about how despite facing tough challenges they continued the growth with the aggressive strategy and launched several new models in the country.
