Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition adorns exterior enhancements and interior additions compared to the regular model

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the Grand Edition of its GLS SUV in both the petrol and diesel versions in India. The full-size luxury SUV will be available across all authorised dealerships in the country. The highlighting exterior features are LED Intelligent Light System with unique black rings, Automatic Headlamps adapting to different driving and weather situations, 20-inch 10-spoke light alloy wheels, painted in Black with high-sheen finish and ‘Grand Edition’ exterior badges and chrome fins on the bonnet among other visual enhancements.

The Dipped beam is activated when speed is above 90 kmph and the Active light function swings the headlamps into bends by up to 15° while Corner light function improves illumination on tight bends. The enhanced fog lamp function illuminates the outer half of the carriageway more effectively while reducing the glare. As for the interior, the Mercedes-Benz GLS Grand Edition gets a volume of 680 to 2300 litres and has new heated three-spoke multifunction nappa leather steering wheel with steering wheel gearshift paddles.

The GLS 350 d comes equipped with a 3-litre V6 diesel engine which is good enough to produce 258 hp at 3,400 rpm and 620 Nm of peak torque between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm whereas the GLS 400 features a V6 petrol engine that pumps out 333 hp at 5,250-6,000 rpm and 480 Nm of torque at 1,600-4,000 rpm.

The engine is connected to 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission which ensures seamless delivery of power to all four wheels. The petrol model can do 0-100 kmph in just 6.6 seconds while the diesel version can reach the same mark in 7.8 seconds.

Other main features include a 12 function keys and airbag cover in nappa leather, redesigned instrument panel with semi-integrated colour Media Display, standard RSES (rear seat entertainment system), two 7-inch high-definition screens, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The GLS 350 d Grand Edition (Diesel) and the GLS 400 Grand Edition (Petrol) are priced at Rs. 86.90 Lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). The Grand Edition comes as a result of India becoming a top six market globally for the GLS SUV in sales.
