With the Mercedes-Benz GLS 400 4Matic Petrol the German luxury automaker completes petrol portfolio and is the eighth car to be launched in 2016

Mercedes-Benz has launched the eighth product of this year as the GLS 400 4Matic rounds out the petrol fleet of the largest luxury car manufacturer in the country. It is priced at Rs. 82.90 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and has been made available in two colour schemes namely Polar White and Obsidian Black. Local production will begin towards the end of this year and initially it will be brought as CBU imports.

Available instantly across all Mercedes dealerships, the petrol version of the GLS luxury SUV has been introduced in India within three months after diesel variant’s debut. The full-sized GLS 400 4Matic SUV is powered by a V6 petrol engine that produces 333 horsepower between 5250 and 6000 rpm besides peak torque of 480 Nm as low as 1600 rpm. It can hit a top speed of 240 kmph helped by the 9-G tronic nine-speed automatic transmission sending power to permanent all-wheel-drive system.

As standard equipment, the GLS 400 4Matic features Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system, COMAND Online and smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay. The surround system has 360 degree sound experience for both stereo and 5.1 multi-channel recordings with 14 speakers and DSP amplifier. The Dynamic Select technology offers five driving modes such as Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Individual and Off-road.

A slew of active and passive safety systems include Pre-safe, BAS Brake Assist, electronic all-wheel drive traction system 4ETS, ESP (Electronic Stability Program) with Curve Dynamic Assist and cruise control as standard. The further features ensuring safety are passive occupant protection systems with electronic crumple zones, of the adaptive two-stage airbags for driver and front passenger, side bags for driver, front passenger and the middle row seats (combined thorax/pelvis bags) and window bags across all three seat rows as standard alongside optional three-point safety belts on all seven seats.

The other important listed features are panoramic sunroof, full LED headlamps with Intelligent Light System, adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, Airmatic suspension with Adaptive Dampening System (ADS) Plus, mirror package with brand logo projection, memory package for driver and front passenger, etc.
