Mercedes is causing Mayhem in the premium luxury category when it comes to launches in India. Almost every month there is one launch from Mercedes since past 10 months. Stuttgart based manufacturer has said they will launch 15 products in the year 2015 and they are living upto the expectation.

It’s a surprise that the premium market has grown by leaps and bounds and the brand has 15 products in its portfolio that it believes it will help Indian buyers come to showroom.

Design wise, it’a comprehensive facelift rather than full-blown change to the GLE. It gets a new set of headlamps and a larger grille than before. Mercedes-Benz GLE looks like the new C and S-Class when viewed up front thanks to following design towards the bottom with its headlights and bonnet.

The grille is typical with its twin slat design and huge centrally mounted three-pointed-star. The side profile still is reminiscent of the older ML-Class and so is the rear. The traditional C-pillar with a huge glass for the rear along with brand new LED tail-lamps have been introduce to the GLE. The Mercedes-Benz GLE also gets LED headlamps for the first time just like the new higher models of the Mercedes-Benz family.

Interior gets updated with a larger screen than before, which is highlight of the cabin. The GLE is also available in a variety to trim options as always. Quality levels all around needless to say are superb and the leather is top-notch. Overall, its a typical Mercedes-Benz cabin that oozes luxury and make you munch miles in absolute comfort.

Engines continue be the same for the Mercedes-Benz GLE. The GLE gets the same 250d and the GLE 350d, albeit retuned to make power and deliver more efficiency. The GLE 250d churns out 204 PS of peak power and 500 Nm of torque while the GLE 350d makes 258 PS and 620Nm of torque. What’s new and another highlight is the 9-speed automatic.

The gearbox that will be replacing the seven speed of the previous version and seen on many other three-pointed star cars. The GLE is set to come with 4-matic option as well and it will competes with the like Audi Q5 and BMW X5 as the GLS is set to come soon and challenge the likes of Audi Q7.
