Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 takes power from a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing 362 bhp; can do 0-100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds
Mercedes-Benz will be introducing the all-new GLC 43 next month for the domestic market according to a recent report. The GLC SUV has been a very successful model for the German luxury automaker since its local debut and the GLC 43 will indeed be based on the same vehicle with a bit more flare courtesy of the AMG tuning.
Positioned between the regular GLC and the GLC 63 AMG, the new GLC 43 will be sort of in the middle in terms of sporty performance and features. Therefore, the pricing will also be not too higher as the 63 AMG. The leading luxury brand in India sells the GLC 300 and GLC 220d with 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines respectively.
They cost at about the same ex-showroom price of Rs. 56 lakh and the upcoming GLC 43 AMG could be quoted with Rs. 30 lakh more. It has followed the revision of Mercedes’ nomenclature and is made available only with all-wheel-drive configuration.
The biggest talking point is the engine, however, as the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 362 bhp and is connected to the 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission. It will have improved drivability and performance standards to justify the AMG badge.
The GLC 43 features air suspension as standard equipment among other significant elements. The performance-based SUV can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds and can do an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. Also on offer is the different driving modes taking care of the mechanical response depending on the surface conditions.
The modes are Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. The last one will enable the owner to tune the GLC 43 according to his preferred settings. The changes are not limited on just the powertrain and mechanical front only as the exterior gets several revisions as well.
There is a new AMG specified front grille, air intakes, silver front lip, 19-inch AMG Sport wheels, etc. On the inside, the all-black theme is complemented with red stitching while red seat belts, carbon-fibre dashboard trims and sporty steering wheel enhance the overall appeal.
