Maserati Levante to be launched in India later this year; petrol variant to come in 2018 with two different states of tune

Maserati is all set to launch the Levante SUV in India later this year and ahead of that, the brand has already displayed the car at an event in the country. Initially, it will be introduced with a diesel engine under the hood and a petrol variant is also coming sometime next year. Also, the petrol variant of Levante SUV will be available in two different states of tune.

Expect the upcoming Maserati Levante to be priced in India at around Rs. 1.80 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Speaking about the diesel powered luxury SUV, the India-spec Levante gets a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine under the hood that is capable of churning out 271 bhp of peak power and 600 Nm of massive peak torque.

The diesel engine will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and it will send power to all the four wheels using he Italian car manufacturer’s Q4 All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. Also, expect the diesel powered Maserati Levante to be capable of accelerating 0-100 kmph in 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 230 kmph.

The petrol powered Levante will get a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine under the hood that generates 345 bhp of peak power and 500 Nm of peak torque in the standard model. Also, it will be able to accelerate 0-100 kmph in 6 seconds with a top speed of 251 kmph. There will be a more powerful variant as well christened as Levante S.

The Maserati Levante S will pump out 424 bhp of peak power and 580 Nm of peak torque. Also, it will be able to reach 100 kmph from standstill position in just 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 264 kmph. Interestingly, there will be a Sport mode in both the Levante petrol and diesel powered models, which will quicken up the gear shifting and open up valves in the exhaust system delivering sportier exhaust sound.
