Maruti Suzuki YRA to be the brands best hatch produced till date, will compete with Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20 Elite
Maruti Suzuki YRA to be a sensational hatchback once launched. A pair of lenses from our ever exciting field crew has caught this semi-camouflaged hatchback images, revealing more details and specifications on its design and technicalities under the hood.
Now, will the upcoming YRA replace the successful Swift? Answer is no, as the YRA does not share any similarities between the duos, while it stands as a separate entity and will be placed above the Swift. As far as looks are concerned, the Maruti Suzuki YRA takes an upper hand over the rivals Hyundai i20 Elite and the Honda Jazz, which means the counterparts, will have a tough competition once the Maruti hatch back is launch to the Indian market.
The estate styled, swept back designed Maruti Suzuki YRA will be the widest, longest and the lightest hatchback in its segment and is expected to lead the class. The front fascia of the hatchback propounds“Y” fashioned chrome lining on the grille which flows outward joining the headlamp cluster and within you can see the brand logo embedded. The grille looks similar to the Nissan Sunny from an angle, WHAT? A Maruti with Nissan face!
“We feel the R&D team needs to take a re-look at the front grille design, tweak it a bit or add few slats with chrome touches which can surely turn heads on the go!”
The headlight compartment gets inbuilt DRL on the Indian specific, while the earlier spied YRA displayed bumper mounted LED’s. The cluster also gets a projector specific also mocks LED tail lamps. A total premium offering from Maruti! The side specifics of the YRA symbolize the European concept. However, we had the Swift also with the similar touches, so does not charm me! The scooped image gives an impression of the mirrors mounted on the doors and can have chrome door handles on the top of the list variant.
As for the technical specification of the Maruti Suzuki YRA, the company will introduce three specific engine options, a K10C 1.0 liter duel jet – Boosterjet engine, a 1.2 k- Series engine and a D13 1.3 DDis engine with 90HP diesel mill.
The 1 Liter Boosterjet mill is expected to deliver 23 Kmpl, while the 1.3 D likely to bring out 27.8 Kmpl. Now, the 1.2 k- Series engine is same as the one found on the Swift, this can be rejuvenated to breathe new life into the YRA. As said in our earlier article of the YRA spied, the K10C could possibly get Start-Stop technology as well.
To keep the YRA above its counterparts, Maruti will focus on offering latest in technology gadgets and premium features like the Sat Nav, keyless entry system, steering-mounted controls and new infotainment system with touch screen. The hatch will also be equipped with 16-spoke 16”alloy wheels.
