Maruti Suzuki is the most popular and best selling automotive brand in India. The automaker has recently introduced its first compact SUV Vitara Brezza in the country, which has become an instant hit among the SUV loving customers in India. In the initial weeks after the launch the car received more than 40000 bookings. Now the automaker is planning to increase its production of the models like Vitara Brezza and the premium hatchback Baleno, which is also a popular model since it has been launched last year.
Initially, the Indo Japanese automaker planned to manufacture 80000 units of Vitara Brezza per year, which was later increased up to 1 lakh units per year. Now the automaker is planning to manufacture 120000 lakh units of Vitara Brezza per year, which will significantly reduce the waiting period. Presently the car comes with a waiting period of 4 – 5 months.
Alongside the Vitara Brezza production of Baleno is also about to increase up to 165000 units per year. Maruti Suzuki presently exports the Baleno to several overseas markets; with an increased production of the Baleno the company will be able to expand its sells figure. Later this year, the automaker will launch the performance oriented Baleno RS during the festive season.
Maruti-Suzuki’s Gujarat plant will start working from January 2017 onwards. The Baleno will be the first model to be manufactured in the plant. Moreover, the Gujarat plant will manufacture the upcoming next generation Maruti Suzuki Swift as well, which is about to be unveiled at the upcoming 2016 Paris Motor Show. Suzuki Swift is one of the most popular models in the world. India solely contributes 54% share to the total global sales volume of the Swift.
The new Swift will sport a redesigned exterior and interior. The test mules of the next generation Suzuki Swift has been spotted several times. It will be based on the Baleno’s lightweight aluminium platform, which will come 50 – 70 kg lighter than the outgoing Swift. Expect the new Swift to be more fuel efficient and it might sport AMT gearbox as well.
