The Wagon R Cross retains the basic design theme but the cosmetic changes made to the front and side gives it a muscular look
Maruti Suzuki officially launched the third generation Wagon R last week in India at the starting price of Rs. 4.19 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The new Wagon R is based on the advanced Heartect platform and it is lighter than its predecessor by around 50 kg depending on the variant. Maruti has given an evolutionary design theme for the new Wagon R and it looks different from the JDM-spec model as the front get new headlamps along with new grille and redesigned fog lamp inserts.
The rear gets vertically placed tail lights and the new model is longer and wider, which has improved overall cabin space and the new generation Wagon R comes with 341 litres of boot space. The interior gets a new design theme and the hatchback is loaded with features like touch screen infotainment system, dual airbags, ABS with EBD and more.
The new Wagon R is available with 1.0 L and 1.2 L engine options as the former produces 67 PS and later 83 PS of power. Both engines come with the option of 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. According to ARAI, the new Wagon R returns 22.5 Km/l for the 1.0 L and 21.5 Km/l for the 1.2 L.
