Maruti Suzuki officially announced recall of 52686 units of Swift and Baleno. The company is going to inspect and replace faulty brake vacuum house. The Swift and Baleno manufactured from December 1, 2017 to March 16, 2018 are affected with this issue. But the company insisted that it is not a recall as it is not a safety issue.
The recall is termed as service campaign by Maruti Suzuki and starting from May 14th onwards, the company will contact affected customers to replace the part. The change of parts will be done free of cost. Gobally, automobile manufactures undertake service campaigns to rectify faults that may cause inconvenience for the customer.

This is not the first time Baleno has been recalled in India as company had some issue with airbags of 75,419 units of Baleno in May, 2016. Among these, 15,995 units were diesel cars which also had to be inspected and replace faulty fuel filter. Maurti Suzuki Baleno is the first product developed under the new Heartect platform even though it is in the market for more than 3 years sales continues to be very strong for Baleno.

Even though both share same engine, the efficiency is different as Swift returns 28.4 kmpl for diesel and 22 Kmpl for petrol. The Baleno returns 27.39 kmpl for diesel and 21.25 kmpl for petrol. The Baleno is priced as a premium product and above Swift in the product portfolio. The new generation Swift has already crossed 1 lakh bookings within three months of its launch in India.
