Maruti Suzuki Jimny Won’t Be Launched In India Reportedly

Maruti Suzuki Jimny India launch

Jimny India launch won’t happen as most products in this segment is not selling well and people won’t buy it as their primary vehicle

Suzuki officially revealed new generation of Jimny earlier this year and we were expecting the company to launch the small off-roader in Indian market in the near future. Maruti Suzuki’s R&D head, CV Raman confirmed during Ciaz media drive that the company won’t introduce Jimny locally and that comes as a disappointment for many.

According to Maruti Suzuki, the small 3 door SUV won’t bring good numbers in Indian market and if launched, Jimny will be positioned as a lifestyle product in which people won’t buy it as their primary vehicle. Most of the products in this segment are not selling well and thus the company decided not to bring Jimny.

The Jimny is popular around the world for its retro design theme and off-road capabilities. The front design of Jimny is similar to iconic Mercedes G Wagon as the company has given round projector headlamps with indicators placed on top of it and a five-slat front grille with black finish for the bumper.

Suzuki has given flared wheel arches with black plastic cladding across the body. The spare wheel is mounted at rear door and tail lamps are integrated into the bumper. The Jimny is offered with dual tone colour theme in which mirrors and roof are finished in same colour for sporty look.

The Jimny comes with lots of features like touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS), lane departure warning and more.

Suzuki Jimny is offered with lots of different engine options including 1.2 L K-Series engine with 92 hp and 1.0 L Boosterjet engine with 112 hp. These engines will be mated to 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto. The Jimny comes with Suzuki’s Allgrip Pro AWD system with low-range transfer gear and LSD traction control system also.
