Maruti Suzuki India Export Crosses 15 Lakh Units Mark

The top five exported model in 2015-16 are – Alto, Swift, Celerio, Baleno and Ciaz

Maruti Suzuki is the largest automaker present in India. Alongside that, the car holds a strong position in the export market as well. The company’s cumulative export has crossed 15 lakh mark. The automaker started exporting cars to Europe in 1987-88, and in this nearly three decade of time it has exported cars to several countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa as well.

In the 2015-16 fiscal year, top five models exported by Maruti Suzuki India were the Alto, Swift, Celerio, Baleno and Ciaz. And the top overseas markets for these cars were Sri Lanka, Chile, Philippines, Peru and Bolivia. In recent times, Maruti Suzuki started exporting Baleno premium hatchback to Japan also, which became the first car exported to Japan from India. Also the Baleno is exclusively made-in-India model for the world market as well.

Talking about this success Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, the Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki has said that, the company has been constantly maintaining its presence in international markets. It also offers new products and reaches out to new countries across the world, which helped the brand in achieving this success. He also mentioned that, the Baleno premium hatchback has been playing a crucial role in India’s export sector.

Presently, Maruti Suzuki exports a range of vehicles, to more than 100 countries across the world. Apart from passenger cars, the company started making light commercial vehicle (LCV) like the Super Carry. This commercial vehicle is being exported as well to the countries like South Africa and Tanzania. Also Maruti Suzuki plans to export the Super Carry in the SAARC countries in near future.

While in the export sector the company is seeing success, in the domestic market too Maruti Suzuki has been tasting success in recent times with their several models. The Baleno and the Ciaz are two of the very popular models in India. The company launched the Vitara Brezza earlier this year after unveiling it at 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo, which also became very popular in short time.
