Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross is expected to go on sale around festive season this year; could be sold from Nexa dealerships exclusively

Carmakers are enduring tough times in the last few months as the consistent drop in sales across the board has hurt the volume prospects in the very early stages of this financial year. However, the domestic market is more likely to gain traction in the second part of 2018 and resultantly new launches can be anticipated across different segments.

Maruti Suzuki is speeding up the arrival of new products and will be introducing four models during the course of this year. The Concept Future S based micro SUV reportedly dubbed the S-Presso will debut before this festive season while a seven-seater version of Wagon R might be waiting in the pipeline as well.

The petrol-powered Vitara Brezza and RS version of Swift using 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo engine from Baleno are other potential contenders. We have been reporting about the Ertiga Cross’ arrival for several months and it was spotted testing for the first time less than a couple of weeks ago.

It will likely be sold from premium Nexa dealerships and carry a more upmarket and rugged makeover compared to the standard seven-seater. The exterior updates include flared wheel arches, more upright front fascia comprising of a prominent chrome grille, new set of headlights with LED DRLs, increased ground clearance, roof rails and so on.

More importantly, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross could offer room for six courtesy of the middle row captain seat arrangement. In a similar fashion to the Ertiga Black Edition, the Cross could get an all-black interior with the inclusion of new equipment and upscale seat and cabin finishes.

Expect it to be powered by the existing 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with smart hybrid technology pumping out 104.7 PS and 138 Nm. Maruti Suzuki may sell the Ertiga Cross in both five-speed manual and four-speed torque converter automatic transmission options upon possible arrival around September or October.
