Maruti Suzuki Engage will be sold exclusively through Nexa premium outlets and it will be launched on July 5

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will launch an all-new premium MPV on July 5, 2023. Confirmed via media launch invite, it will be based on the Toyota Innova Hycross. The teaser shows the silhouette of the upcoming flagship model which will be positioned above the XL6 in the brand’s domestic lineup. It will be sold exclusively through the Nexa dealerships.

In addition, it will become the most expensive offering from the largest car producer in the country. It could be christened the Engage judging by the name trademark applied by Maruti Suzuki. It will mark the third big launch from Maruti Suzuki in just over two months as the Fronx arrived in April and only yesterday, the prices of the Jimny were announced.

We showed you the leaked design patent of the grille, headlamp and taillamp of the Maruti Suzuki Engage yesterday. Going by the design, it is safe to assume that the front fascia will be inspired by the Grand Vitara midsize SUV with the presence of a new grille section with different inserts, chromed outline and thick horizontal chrome bars.

One of the chrome bars extends outwards to connect the headlamps which look similar to the LED unit found in the Innova Hycross. The front bumper will get a minor revision while the wraparound taillamps will more likely be identical to its donor. It will be the first Maruti Suzuki model to sit. on the TNGA-C platform and also the first to feature ADAS tech.

The first badge-engineered Toyota supplied to Maruti Suzuki will sit at the top of the range as a niche offering. As for the performance, the same 2.0L NA petrol and the 2.0L strong hybrid petrol engines will be retained. The latter will be capable of having a claimed fuel economy of over 21 kmpl. It will be rolled out alongside its donor at TKM’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka.
