Maruti Suzuki Dzire Tour S CNG produces less power output at 70.4 bhp and has interior changes to accomodate the CNG fuel
Maruti Suzuki is soon launching the CNG-spec Dzire Tour in the domestic market. Priced at Rs. 5.97 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), spy pictures of the new variant have revealed several details leading up to the launch. It is dubbed ‘Dzire Tour S CNG’ in order to differentiate from the regular cab version of the subcompact sedan.
The Tour S badge can be seen at the back of the car with CNG stickering. Automakers are utilising the vast potential existing in the taxi market by introducing specific variants of their popular models. Recently, Mahindra launched the CNG version of the KUV100 and its now turn for Maruti Suzuki to update its best-selling meeting the mileage requirements of the cab owners.

The gas tank is suited at the back occupying majority of the boot volume while the CNG filler cap is placed right next to the petrol filler and a metal plaque that reads CNG tank number, water capacity, installation date, vehicle chassis number, etc. Other than these obvious modifications, the exterior of Dzire Tour S is expected to remain the same as the standard model.
Stepping inside the cabin, the interior is greeted with a two-tone beige and black colour combination. Since it’s a cab-spec version and cost cutting plays a significant factor, the Dzire Tour S has basic features like three-spoke steering wheel without any buttons, manual AC controls, manually adjustable ORVMs, front power windows and so on. The temperature gauge is no more and speedometer is placed in the centre of the instrument panel.

As for the powertrain, the 1.2-litre K-series four-cylinder petrol engine is good enough to develop a maximum power output of 83 bhp at 6,000 rpm in regular model. But the presence of CNG fuel makes the engine produce lesser power at 70.4 bhp.
The instrument binnacle also has Petrol and CNG gauges on the left side and the multi-info display is positioned on the right hand side. For easy access, Maruti Suzuki has placed a switch right next to the steering column to toggle between petrol and CNG modes. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire Tour S has driver airbag protection and it could gain a speed governor that limits speed to 80 kmph.
