Marui Suzuki Alto for long has remained the best-selling car in the Indian market every year, that changes with the launch of the all-new Dzire in India

Maruti Suzuki Dzire has always remained one of the top-selling cars for the manufacturer in the Indian market since it has been launched. However, after the launch of the all-new Dzire last year, the sales of the car sky-rocketed. Soon the Dzire became the best-selling car in the Indian market and for the first time in recent past a sedan picked up the top spot on the sales chart.

Until November 2018, Maruti sold as many as 2,47,815 units of the Dzire, which is the highest ever. It replaces the long-time top-spot-holder- Maruti Suzuki Alto. Maruti sold 2,31,540 units of the Alto in the Indian market.

The Dzire also became the fastest selling car from the brand in the Indian market and is extremely popular among the private as well as the cab-aggregators. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire will undoubtedly be on the top spot of the sales chart after Maruti releases the December sales.

The success of the Dzire can be attributed to the number of engine-transmission variants it offers. While the Alto is only offered with a petrol engine with a manual and an AMT automatic transmission, the Dzire is available with both petrol and diesel engine options in the Indian market.

It gets powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. Both the engine options get a manual transmission as standard and AMT automatic transmission as an option. This combination attracts a lot of buyers in the market. Also, according to Maruti, the buying power of the customers is increasing with the time and they prefer bigger vehicles as their first cars.

This is one of the many reasons for the high popularity of the Dzire in the Indian market. Interestingly, 8 out of 10 top selling cars in India belong to Maruti while other two belong to Hyundai. The 2019 year is expected to give similar results on the sales chart.
