Maruti Suzuki delivered 30,000 cars in single day as the claimed sales on Dhanteras 2016 marks 20% increase compared to the same day last year

Maruti Suzuki has created a new record on Dhanteras this year by selling 30,000 cars on a single day. The Indo-Japanese automaker has sold 20% higher units compared to Dhanteras 2015. Hyundai also sold 15,153 units on the same day. Such a huge sales figure for Maruti Suzuki marks the company’s single day sales was higher than what other automakers manage in an entire month.

Diwali and the festive season generally see increased sales volume in auto industry. People tend to buy new cars every year during Diwali, but Maruti Suzuki’s new record is quite overwhelming indeed. In recent times due to increased price, ban on diesel cars and many other reasons sent auto industry in back foot, but during Diwali every automaker experienced increased demand.

To attract customers every other automaker offers special offers, cash discounts during Diwali. This time was no different as well. Maruti Suzuki also offered such special offers and cash discounts. India’s largest automaker has been seeing very good sales figures for models like Baleno and Vitara Brezza. Both the cars come as bestselling models from the automaker.

In the month of September 2,74,659 units of passenger cars were sold in Indian market, and Maruti Suzuki has sold 1,32,321 units among that. This means India’s largest automaker has sold 1 car among every two cars sold in the country. The company has also experienced its highest ever sales marking 30% growth. The increased sales figure during Diwali marks it will see even higher number in October.

In the H1 of FY2016 Maruti Suzuki’s sales dropped by 8% compared to H1 FY2015. In H1 this fiscal it has sold 60,526 units, while in H1 of last fiscal it sold 65,699 units. Now as sales figure of the company is rapidly growing again, Maruti Suzuki expects it will see growth in H2 FY2016 compared to corresponding period of FY2015.
