The Alto 800 bears the legacy of the original Maruti 800 which was the most popular car in the Indian automotive history. Now with steeply growing competition in the market, the automaker has decided to introduce an updated Alto 800. Earlier, it was speculated that Maruti Suzuki will showcase the car at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2016 in February but it turned out not to be the case.
In an exclusive news, last week we revealed that the facelifted version of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 will be launched this month ahead of the Datusn Redi-GO slated to be launched in the first week of June. The Maruti Suzuki Alto is the undisputed best-seller for many years now but the leading car manufacturer in the country certainly isn’t resting on its laurels with the stupendous feats scaled by the small hatchback. The car is finally launched in India and is available in petrol and CNG variants only.

2016 Maruti Alto800 Facelift Price and Variants:
The Outgoing Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 was priced ranging between Rs. 2.57 lakh and Rs. 3.78 lakh depending on the variants however Maruti Suzuki dropped the facelifted model prices as the Alto encounters heavy competition from the Renault Kwid. Engine and Specifications & Mileage:
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 gets a 796 cc F8D engine mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The engine churns out 47.65 PS of peak power at 6000 rpm and 69 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. The car is available in petrol and CNG variants as well. The car might get an AMT gearbox, which will definitely take the game up for this model, but only at a later stage.
Maruti Suzuki Alto 800’s facelift model delivers 24.7 kmpl of fuel economy in petrol (9% more frugal than the outgoing model), while on CNG mode,it is claimed to deliver 33.4 kmpl of fuel efficiency with is 10% up on its predecessor.
Maruti Suzuki Alto800 Exterior:
The facelift model of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 gets a revised front fascia sporting restyled headlamps and front grille. The headlamp design is now slimmer as part of what Maruti Suzuki calls as Aero Edge Design. The hexagonal sharp grille has been modified to accommodate the trapezoidal shape similar to the A Star and the headlamps are more squarer and sharper with bolder character lines on the bonnet. The side profile of the car remains pretty much unchanged and so as the rear end. The wheels have received a new design. The bumper is now 35mm longer and gets provision for fog lamps.
Dimensionally, 2016 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 comes with 3430 mm of length which is 35mm longer than outgoing version but 1490 mm of width, 1475 mm of height and 2360 mm of wheelbase remains similar to the outgoing version. The car comes with a ground clearance of 160 mm and the kerb weighs stands at 725 kilograms. Turning radius for the Alto 800 is 4.6 meters.
2016 Maruti Alto800 Interior and Features:
The cabin has come with certain updates as well. It includes new fabric upholstery for seats and door pads, a passenger side Outside Rear View Mirror as standard and there is additional storage space at the rear. Also standard are full wheel covers, rear spoiler, front power windows and much-needed central locking system.
The 2016 Maruti Alto 800 facelift gets several interesting features upgrades like remote keyless entry, smart storage spaces like rear bottle holder and co-driver side map pocket.
Alto800 Facelift Safety Features
Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 will come with safety features like front airbag for driver from the base trim. The base and mid variants get safety child lock as well.
Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 will compete against newly unveiled Datsun RediGo compact hatchback and the successfully-running Renault Kwid.
