Maruti Suzuki’s old SmartPlay infotainment system in cars like Ciaz, Baleno and Vitara Brezza now get Android Auto and updated map
Maruti Suzuki’s older SmartPlay infotainment system now gets Android Auto and an updated map that was not available at the first place. With this update, cars like the Ciaz, S-Cross, Baleno and Vitara Brezza now comes with the popular Android Auto app. Thanks to this, the Android smartphone users can now connect their phone to the car’s system and make or receive calls, read messages, play music stored in the phone; and all of that from the touchscreen infotainment system.
Alongside the Apple CarPlay Android Auto is another very popular smartphone connectivity feature available in modern cars. But, Maruti Suzuki’s old SmartPlay infotainment systems didn’t have this feature. Now, the update enables the customers to use these features in their cars.

Maruti Suzuki’s new models like the Ignis and newly launched Dzire come with the SmartPlay infotainment system that features Android Auto. Therefore the older models too will be on par with these newer models in terms of infotainment system. To update the software of the infotainment system with Android Auto and new map, customers need to take their cars to the nearest Maruti Suzuki service centre. The update volume is 2.5 GB and this will be valid till 2020, until the next update rolls out.
Maruti Suzuki is undoubtedly the king of small commuter models in the Indian car market. But, the company is now changing its strategy to meet the demands of the new generation buyers who seek premiumness in the products along with the practicality, style and efficiency. The change of strategy is visible in the company’s new generation models like the Baleno, Ignis, new Dzire, Vitara Brezza etc.

Not only the Maruti Suzuki, but several other automakers in the country market are also focusing on the offering the features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in their cars, that they didn’t offer earlier. Couple of months ago Mahindra announced that it will offer smartphone connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in its cars.
