Maruti Suzuki hiked the Ex-showroom price of Omni and Eeco by Rs. 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively; effective from today onwards
Maruti Suzuki has officially hiked the price of Omni by Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 for the Eeco. The new prices come into effect from today onwards. The company was forced to increase price due to the rise in commodities prices along with high foreign exchange rates. The Omni after the price hike starts at Rs. 2.82 lakh and Rs. 3.37 lakh (both prices, Ex-Showroom) for the Eeco.
Maruti Suzuki sold 7,318 units of Omni last month and posted 29 per cent Year-On-Year growth. The company is expecting the positive momentum to continue in 2019 also. The Eeco has managed to post 49 per cent growth last month as the company sold 8,532 units compared to 5,742 units in December 2017.
The Omni is powered by 796 cc four-stroke engine producing 34 bhp of power at 5,000 rpm and 59 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. This engine is mated to 4-speed manual gearbox and the claimed mileage is 16.8 kmpl. The company is currently offering the Omni in two seating configurations – 5 and 8 seaters.
The Eeco gets its power from 1.2 L petrol engine with 73 bhp of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 101 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. According to ARAI, the Eeco returns 16.2 kmpl and it is available in 5 and 7-seater configurations along with the option of CNG.
We can expect Maruti Suzuki to upgrades these engines to BSVI norms, as they are planning to stop production of BSIV engines from January 2020 even though the deadline is April 2020. The updated model will come with safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and driver seat belt reminder.
