Maruti Ciaz Regains Top Spot From Verna In November

Maruti Ciaz registered 4,009 units in November 2017 compared to 3,751 units of Verna; YoY sales dropped by 26%

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has regained the top spot in the midsize sedan segment of Indian car market in November 2017. The car has beaten Hyundai Verna that saw immense success in recent past. In last month, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz registered 4,009 units compared to Hyundai Verna’s 3,751 units. However, the Maruti sedan’s YoY sales dropped by 26% as in November last year, it recorded 5,433 units.

On the other hand, despite Hyundai Verna’s demotion to the second place in the list the stylish and popular upmarket car has managed to keep its sales figure steady. The new Verna sedan has posted a whopping 303% growth, as the previous model registered 931 units in same month last year. This clearly shows that how the new model has garnered popularity and desired sales result in short span after introduction.

Another popular midsize sedan of India Honda City too is running steady on its sales path. This stylish Japanese car has registered 3,315 units in last month marking an impressive 25% YoY growth, as it recorded 2,658 units in November 2016.

In the top five list, other two models are the Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento positioned in fourth and fifth position respectively. The Skoda Rapid has recorded 874 units in November 2017 marking a 28% growth as the car sold 682 units in same month last year. Volkswagen Vento posted 460 units in last month compared to 632 units registered in November last year. The German midsize sedan has seen its sales declined by 27%.

Speaking about the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, despite the initial shock from Hyundai Verna and heightened competition from other rivals like Honda City and Skoda Rapid, the car still appeals a large number of buyers who trusts Maruti Suzuki, the biggest car brand in the country.

As we have reported several times before, Maruti Suzuki is currently gearing up to launch the facelifted Ciaz that will come with range of updates. It will appear more stylish, more premium and incorporating more features. Test mule of the car has been spied in the country already and it is expected to debut at upcoming 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo in February next year.
