Maruti Celerio has maintained its market position and registered over one lakh units in 2017 with October being the best month at 12,209 units

Maruti Suzuki debuted the Celerio in February 2014 in a bid to further strengthen its popular range of entry-level small cars. With the segment-first AMT (Automated Manual Transmission), it can be credited with giving first-time mass market buyers falling in adoration with the two-pedal technology while not dangling around with the fuel efficiency.

Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is retailed in as many as 12 variants with petrol and CNG powertrain options. It has a starting price of Rs. 4.16 lakh for the entry-level Lxi model and it goes all the way up to Rs. 5.35 lakh for the range-topping Zxi (O) AMT (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi). The largest automaker in the country has concentrated on expanding its reach in the base premium segments in recent years.

But its acceptance in small car space never faded away as Alto, WagonR and Celerio continued to reap sales numbers in 2017. The Celerio did one better as it garnered a total of one lakh unit sales in a calendar year for the first time since entering the domestic market. With better equipment level than the WagonR, the top-end Celerio features beige and black upholstery, Bluetooth enabled audio system and electrica Outside Rear View Mirrors.

As for safety, ABS and dual front airbags are offered as optional fitment. Through its lifespan, Maruti has retailed well over three lakh Celerios in India. Maruti retails the Celerio in Vxi trim with CNG kit and it sacrifices performance for a credible claimed fuel economy of 31.79 kmpl. The regular 1.0-litre K10B DOHC petrol engine is good enough to produce 67 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm at 3,500 rpm.
