Maruti to reduce waiting period of Baleno and Vitara Brezza with increased production at its Gujarat plant

Maruti Suzuki is ready to reduce the waiting period of its two bestsellers, Baleno premium hatchback and Vitara Brezza compact SUV. In order to do so, the automaker is increasing production at its Hansalpur based plant in Gujarat by introducing a second shift. Also, this second shift will reduce pressure from Gurgaon and Manesar plant as well.

The Hansalpur plant in Gujarat is Suzuki Motor Corporation’s first wholly owned facility in India and it started single-shift production in February 2017. This plant rolls out around 10,000 units of Baleno per month. With the second shift, production number of the car will increase significantly. Currently, Baleno comes with a waiting period of 18-19 weeks and the Vitara Brezza has around 20 weeks of waiting period.

The Baleno and Vitara Brezza are two of the bestselling models from the brand and with the increased production resulting in shortened waiting period, the Indo-Japanese automaker believes sales will improve further for these cars. Apart from that, it will also help the brand to achieve its target of rolling out 1.50 lakh units of Baleno in the current fiscal.

With this production hike in Hansalpur plant, the Gurgaon and Manesar facilities will be able to adjust the production of the other cars. Maruti Suzuki also reveals that the festive season has started well for the brand. It is expecting around 20% growth in this festive season compared to the last year and interestingly, a major number of the sales is attributed to the Baleno and Vitara Brezza.
