After a lot of speculations on the launch, Maruti Suzuki today has officially announced the prices of the new Baleno 1.2L Dualjet BS 6 petrol engine
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been the first true success from Nexa premium dealerships. Ever since it was launched in October 2015 in India, the B2 segment hatchback is garnering volumes in aplenty and it can often be seen in the top 5 of the monthly best-selling charts due to the consistency it maintains over main rival Hyundai Elite i20.
Maruti Suzuki has had tremendous success with the Heartect platform based products in the last three or four years including Baleno. However, with the soon-arriving stringent emission standards, the largest automaker in the country has been making changes to its domestic portfolio with the inclusion of new engines.
Today, the company has announced the prices of BSVI compliant petrol variant along with the introduction of SHVS in Baleno for the first time in India. The new and more powerful 1.2L DualJet engine in the premium hatchback is offered in just 2 variants: Zeta 1.2 litre DualJet Dual VVT and Delta 1.2 litre DualJet Dual VVT. The new powertrain is claimed to deliver a good mileage of 23.87 kmpl.

MSIL is the first mainstream brand to jump into commercially selling BSVI engines in the passenger vehicle space. To meet BSVI regulations, the engine hardware, software and exhaust unit have been upgraded. The engine control software now provides more precise fuel injection control courtesy of the onboard sensors.
The current 1.2-litre K series petrol engine has also been upgraded to meet BSVI norms and it will be available in both five-speed manual and CVT transmission options. In the last financial year, more than two lakh units of Baleno were sold while the premium hatchback has garnered more than 5.5 lakh customers since its debut in October 2015.
The smart hybrid technology possesses Lithium-ion battery for improved fuel economy while the engine itself has higher thermal efficiency and reduced friction due to the DualJet technology being used. The smart hybrid tech assists during acceleration without compromising mileage.
Brake energy is recovered during acceleration to charge the battery, which in turn helps in torque assist and idle start/stop functions. The new K12C DualJet petrol SHVS engine is already used in international markets and as we previously reported it has finally entered India with power and torque outputs of 91 PS at 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm at 4,400 rpm respectively. The 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced DDiS diesel will continue to be in production till the end of this year.
