Maruti claims nearly 25% of the Alto sales come from young buyers; it alone sells more than the combined volume sold by rivals
Maruti Suzuki’s entry level offering Alto has earned another feat of selling more than 1.07 lakh units in first five months of 2017. In between January-May period, the small hatchback has sold a total of 107,557 units with May 2017 fetching the best sales result of 23,618 units. Another interesting fact is that around 25% of the Alto sales contribution comes from young buyers with age below 30 years and this contribution has grown by 4% in last three years.
Every month Maruti Suzuki Alto alone sells more than the combined volume of its rivals. The Alto badge comprises two different models, Alto 800 and Alto K10. It is not only popular in domestic market, but in several overseas markets as well that include Sri Lanka, Philippines, Chile, Uruguay etc.

The entry level buyers consider the Maruti Suzuki Alto as a great value for money product. It comes with a practical design and affordability with efficient powertrain. The Alto is designed to cater the need of commuting in and around city. The Indo-Japanese automaker has introduced its Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology to the Alto K10 that ensures clutchless comfortable driving experience.
Maruti Suzuki Alto was launched in 2000 and it bears the legacy of the iconic Maruti 800. In just first three years after launch, the small hatchback achieved the feat of 1 lakh units of cumulative sales. During 2016-17, the auto manufacturer exported more than 21,000 units to the overseas markets.

Despite heavy competition and lack of upmarket modern features that are highly in demand, the Alto has been doing well consistently. Last year, the automaker updated Alto 800 with subtle design change that helped the brand to enhance its popularity further. Apart from two different engine options Alto is sold in CNG fuel option too that increases its appeal further. The Alto 800 is priced between Rs. 2.47 lakh and Rs. 3.74 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), while the K10 model comes priced between Rs. 3.27 lakh and Rs. 4.13 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
