Mahindra XUV700 launch, which was earlier scheduled for 9th October, has been postponed to avoid a clash with the new Santro, Aspire facelift, and New CR-V events

We have got to know that the Mahindra XUV700 launch, which was earlier scheduled for 9th October, has been postponed to a later date. This has been done to avoid a clash with the media preview of the new Hyundai Santro, media drive of the new Ford Aspire facelift, and the launch of the Honda CR-V.

The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 is basically a rebadged latest generation Ssangyong Rexton, which made its debut with a Mahindra badge at the Auto Expo 2018. Unlike the current Rexton, which gets a ‘Ssangyong by Mahindra’ branding, the new model will be totally a Mahindra model.

Other than a new grille with a Mahindra badge, the XUV700 will also benefit from a tweaked suspension, which will be set up keeping the Indian conditions in mind. Other than this, the interior is also likely to get some minor changes. Apart from these minor adaptations, however, the Mahindra XUV700 for India will remain much like the G4 Ssangyong Rexton.

Powering the Mahindra XUV700 will be a new 2.2-litre e-XDi220 LET diesel engine that will be sold with two transmission options – 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic. With a manual transmission, the engine offers a maximum power of 187 PS along with a peak torque of 400 Nm. With the automatic, it offers 187 PS and 420 Nm. The SUV gets part-time 4WD system.

The Mahindra XUV700 will offer many features, include electric sunroof, 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, HID projector headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), ventilated seats, electric parking brake, nine airbags, traction control, and ABS with EBD.

The new Mahindra XUV700 will become the most expensive product in the company’s line up. Prices are likely to start from Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mahindra XUV700 launch will be followed by the introduction of the Maruti Vitara Brezza-rivalling S201 compact SUV next year.
