Mahindra XUV300 is one of the most talked-about SUVs in the Indian market. The all-new SUV would be launched on 14th February and will be Mahindra’s most premium product in the sub-4meter compact SUV segment. Even though it belongs from a segment below the XUV500, it has the potential to take away a few buyers of the entry-level variant of elder sibling XUV500. Here is how the upcoming XUV300 will take on the XUV 500 in the Indian market.

The XUV300 is based on the SsangYong Tivoli, Mahindra has changed the looks of the vehicle enough to make it look like a stereotype Mahindra vehicle. The XUV300 and the XUV500 share quite a good amount of looks. The XUV300 gets a chrome-dipped grille which looks extremely similar to the XUV500 but it is much smaller in size.

The exterior also gets big headlamps with uniquely shaped DRLs and a skid plates at front and rear. The XUV300 also gets a distinctive bump on the window line, that gives it a very premium touch. The SUV also gets 17-inch wheels and black cladding all around that gives it a very rugged look.

The Mahindra XUV500 is much bigger in size when compared to the XUV 300. The front grille is similar to the XUV300 but is much bigger in size. It gets large headlamps with projectors inside and distinctive LED DRLs that gives an identity to the XUV500. The XUV500 looks quite bulky on the road and has a massive road presence too.

The Mahindra XUV500 also gets the 18-inch wheels. What makes the XUV 500 very similar to the XUV300 is the window kink. Both the SUVs also get roof rails and blacked out pillars that give a floating roof effect.

The Mahindra XUV500 gets an exemplary cabin. It gets huge cabin space with large seats that allow the occupants to be cosy. It also gets leather-covered seats that ensure a premium feel inside the cabin.

The Mahindra XUV300 is not much different. It also gets leather seats and a plush cabin. Both the vehicles get large seats but there is much more space inside the cabin of the XUV500 when compared to the XUV300.

Mahindra XUV500 is one of the most feature-loaded vehicles in the segment. It gets a long list of features including 6 airbags, cruise control system, cornering lights, under armrest cooled storage, leather seats, touchscreen infotainment system with Drive Sense system, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, sunroof, disc brakes on all four wheels, fully automatic climate control system, emergency calling feature, reverse camera with dynamic parking lines, puddle lamps, follow-me headlamps, voice commands, power adjustable driver seat, ESC with hill hold control and much more.

Well, the XUV300 belongs to the same family and will get a range of features similar to the XUV500. The XUV300 gets leather seats, electric sunroof, disc brakes on all wheels, cruise control, dual-zone climate control system, 7-airbags, touchscreen infotainment system, longest wheelbase in the segment and most torque-output engine in the segment.

Mahinda XUV500 vs Mahinda XUV300 engine

The Mahindra XUV500 is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. There is a tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces a maximum of 155 Bhp of power and 360 Nm of peak torque. It gets both manual and automatic options. The XUV500 diesel is available with both AWD and FWD layouts.

The petrol engine in the Mahindra XUV500 is based on the same 2.2-litre diesel engine block. The engine develops a maximum of 140 Bhp and 320 Nm. It only gets a 6-speed automatic transmission and is available in a single variant.

The Mahindra XUV300 would also get the most torque-rich engine in the segment. However, Mahindra is yet to officially announce the engine details. As per reports, the Mahindra XUV300 would get an all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine from the recently launched Marazzo. However, Mahindra is yet to announce them officially.
